Anti fouling flocculants are classified according to their application, and most flocculants have anti fouling effects.

Mechanism of action

Modified starch coagulants can be used as antifouling flocculants. On the one hand, they can use their positive charges to electrically neutralize colloidal particles in water, and on the other hand, they can play the adsorption and bridging role of their long polymer chains, effectively adsorbing negatively charged particles in water onto long chains.

Application status

Anti fouling flocculants play an important role in the solid liquid separation of water and wastewater treatment processes. Taking water treatment as an example: First, flocculation can effectively remove 80% to 95% of suspended substances and 65% to 95% of colloidal substances, which plays an important role in reducing the COD value of water; Moreover, through flocculation and purification, more than 90% of microorganisms and viruses in water can generally be transferred into sludge, making it easier to disinfect and sterilize the water.
